Ain’t no cure for the Summertime blues…

This year, our weather has been a little unusual.  Due to this, most things that we usually think of as fall activities are happening right at the height (and heat) of the Georgia summer.

terribly sweet and plentiful this year.  Too plentiful, if you know what I mean.  They are not the kind of pears that are buttery smooth textured and great for eating fresh.  These are old fashioned, grainy, cooking pears–the best kind for preserving for winter.

I have picked, cleaned, cut, cored, washed, boiled, canned, and put away more pears than I ever desire to see again.

  1. I know…I am the oddball, but I miss summer. Yes, fall is nice and all that, but I love summer. I love the heat and the sun. It’s very cloudy here in Iowa during the winter months and with the shorter days, depression creeps in.

Your pears will be a welcome treat this winter. =)
