Hi there!  My name is Jan and this is my blog.  It is all about my family and my life.

I am first and foremost a Christian wife and mother to two gorgeous and talented sons.   My oldest son is adopted and my youngest son is proof that God has a tremendous sense of humor.  Doctors at first said that it was unlikely that I could have children.  So, we adopted my oldest.  Eight months later, I was pregnant.

Then they told me that I would be (adopting or delivering) girls.  Turns out that our little Catherine and Sophie (the names we picked out) got new names right away as we adopted and delivered two boys.  Yep.  Sonograms don’t tell everything.   Definitely a sense of humor!

My oldest son has Asperger’s syndrome, a mild form of autism.  My youngest son is asthmatic and gifted.  They both have needs that weren’t being met through conventional schooling.  I taught high school for years, and this year, I decided that I would work for my children’s futures and home school them.  Life, for us, has improved dramatically based on that decision.

Unfortunately, quitting the proverbial day job created quite a hole in our finances, so I started the Jewelry Biz (and have recently added a Nail Biz) to help replace my lost income.  So far, it has been a tremendous learning experience that has pulled our family closer together.

As for the quilting, that is just another skill in my arsenal (among others) that help to keep me centered and sane.

So, that is me in a nutshell.  Nothing much is off limits on this blog.  If it is on my mind, it is liable to end up in a blog post.  That’s okay with me.  I hope it is okay with you.
