Living Well Wednesdays!

I am so excited that I have been invited by, none other than, Natalie Collinson of Coffee, Cupcakes, Cards…Oh My! blog fame to participate in her new ‘meme’ for 2011.  It is called ‘Living Well Wednesdays’ and it is a place to support others and commiserate over the journey to reaching our annual goals.  I think it was a wonderful idea and am so glad to participate.  So, here goes….

Some of my 2011 goals are a little intertwined with my 2010 goals.  For example, I lost 50 lbs. last year (then I promptly gained 18 lbs. back between Thanksgiving and Christmas–gulp!)  So, my first order of business is to lose those invading pounds so that I can continue on my weight loss journey.

Goal #1:  Continue on doctor prescribed weight loss plan (fairly low carb, with lots of check ups and blood work) to lose another 50 lbs this year.  That leaves 2012 with me needing only to lose the final 15 lbs. to be at the weight that my doctor would like to see me at.  It’s definitely an ongoing process for me.  I started back on the plan last Sunday and have lost 5 lbs. of water weight that I had been retaining straight away.  I have been easing back into working out a bit, so that is good (if a bit painful).

Goal #2:  Focus–this is my theme word for the year.  I need to become less scattered in my life.  In order to grow as a person (and as a business owner), I must develop and use stores of self discipline to be consistent.  Nothing is going to help me to grow as much as just plain ol’ being consistent will.

So that’s pretty much it in a nutshell.  I have been experiencing all of the unpleasant side effects of ending a month long sugar binge with all kinds of headaches and restlessness.  Yuck.  I really must remember how I feel now when I am tempted again during the holidays later in the year.  I can bounce back from a small indulgence with little harm done, but this is miserable! I have been drinking what feels like swimming pools worth of water and it seems to be helping some.

Honestly, my biggest fear is that I will have a difficult time this weekend.  I am really excited to attend the Regional Rally for my company and see the new jewelry line release!  It’s my very first rally!  But, it is 2 days away from home without my water bottle and my controlled carb foods.  I will have to take my food and snacks and that just isn’t fun.  On Sunday, I will be working the Atlanta Bridal Fair and that means that I will be hauling my own food again.  Sigh.

Monday, we return to our homeschooling routine and then I have training that evening.  So, it will be a whirlwind of carting food, little exercise, and lots of activity.  Cross your fingers for me?

  2. Jan, what a lovely, lovely blog post. Thank you so much for your kind words. And wow girl – 50lbs. That is AMAZING! My goal is to lose 35lbs so I will be most definitely coming to you for expertise and inspiration! And focus too is my word for 2011. We have so much in common, I can’t wait to embark on this challenge together with you.
