The Madness Ends….

Well, the March Madness Vlogging Challenge officially comes to an end at the completion of this video.  It’s hard to explain everything that is running through my head right now that I want to remember to mention in this post.  This has been such an amazing experience to participate in this challenge.  I have learned loads about vlogging, videos inAnother Hatchett Job blog, vlog post general, went from being pretty much a novice with a borrowed Flip Cam (borrowed from my kids) to a chick who is getting proficient at video editing, planning, and recording on a cellular phone, of all things!  Of course, when my kids managed to break the Flip Cam, I learned to find another way to get the same thing accomplished.  There is nothing like homeschooling your kids, running a home business, having a child’s health come into question, and having to research methods and possibilities to stay in the challenge with what we already owned or had ready access to.  Some days, it was good to have something to concentrate on that didn’t fill me with dread or worry.  Vlogging, and watching the other participants and our hosts vlogs filled a very real void in my life.  Of course, there is always the fun issue of knowing that you have exactly 24 hours before you have to have found a work around or a solution to your problem, because you made a commitment and can’t stand to say that you will do something (anything) and not keep your word.

Yep.  That sounds terrible and daunting.  It felt like it at the time.  But, I managed to find a good enough way for the day and then learned how to spruce it up bit by bit as time went on.  Now, it’s pretty much second nature.  Funny, it’s only been a little over a week and a half since I had the equipment issue, and look at how far I have come because I had a reason to practice and learn new things.  I am proud of myself for completing this challenge. I am so grateful to Jendi and Shynea for hosting it and encouraging us all along the way.  You ladies have answered my questions and made me feel far more competent than I really am.   And I am grateful that a friend (Lynsey, you Diva, you!) made sure that I knew about it, and more importantly, was willing to do this along side me!  See, in January 2011, I had never made a video and Lynsey challenged me to make one.  It’s now March 31st, and I have 41 completed videos.  I never would have dreamed in a million years that I would do this.

Necessity is the mother of invention, but this challenge provided the necessity.  Without having participated, I would have missed out on so very much.  For the first time in my blogging career, I was receiving suggestions for future videos and questions that I could answer via vlog.  It ramped up the energy of my posts and seemed to draw more viewers, commenters, and well wishers.

Another Hatchett Job, Countdown, ListsEven though I had several hundred blog posts to my name before I ever even knew what vlogging was, I am excited again about my posts, my blog, my readers/viewers, and my message.  This increases the creativity and skill needed to get a post to publication and I am digging the challenge (when I am not whining about the computer doing something bizarre).

So, here is my final contribution to the challenge.  But, don’t worry, I have a huge list of new things to vlog about and even my friends at Party Plan Divas are suggesting more!  Woo Hoo!

Did you catch my mistake?  Yep, I wasn’t kidding when I claimed that because IAnother Hatchett Job, mistake, boo-boo, oopsie was an English major in college that I couldn’t count on the fly!  Apparently, that is one of those true things that come up in life.  Your top ten list has only 9 items in it.  So, to add a tenth, I want to say that I never thought I would enjoy watching other vloggers as much as I have!  I have learned so much just from the other participants and I am watching more vlogs that just that.

So, even though the March Vlogging Madness is grinding toward a close, I sure hope you will stop back by some time!

Till next time,

Congrats on completing the challenge Jan! I’m pretty sure I can blog for 31 days straight but the whole video thing makes me nervous.

So proud of you and your accomplishment! Well done!

    WOO HOO!

I want to be like you when I grow up. :)

      Ivette,
It makes everyone nervous until they just break down and do it–come what may! But, a commitment like this really forces you to let go of crazy high expectations and it becomes fun. But, I didn’t believe Lynsey when she told me that–I had to experience it for myself!

Way to go Jan! I’m still waiting for the new computer to show up, but when it does, I hope I can do as well as you! Congratulations on a great accomplishment.

Jan, I have never been more proud of you than I am right now! You set your mind to do something, you committed yourself to it, and you completely knocked it out of the park! Well done Diva, WELL DONE!

I think we are going to continue with the daily videos. Shynea is going to keep going, so I am going to try to keep up with her. I too have really enjoyed it (even though *I* didnt get all 31 done! yikes!) and I have enjoyed getting to know SO many people, and so much about all of the Divas I already knew. Such an awesome month!

Jan, I adore you, and it has been such a pleasure to work with you and watch you grow. I do not know how you found Party Plan Divas, but I am so very thankful that you did. It has been a blessing to have you as my friend.

    Many many hugs,

      Lynsey,
You’re gonna make me cry, dang it! I never would have done this if you hadn’t dared me to make that first video in January. You have encouraged me and provided direction in ways that worked for me.

Actually, I found you through a Google search! LOL! No kidding. Apparently, your SEO is pretty darn good…

      Love ya!
