The Eagle Has Landed!

Okay, that is probably the very worst cliche’ that I have ever used for a post title.  Collective groan!

Anyways, a movie is coming out that I am very excited to take my boys to go see.  We are using the SonLight Curriculum for our Literature and History.  This curriculum really weaves the two subjects together nicely and we have read several great historical novels this year.

Currently, we are reading The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff.  It is historical fiction based on a couple of mysteries found in Roman history and more modern British archaeology.  She weaves the mysteries together into a single story line which is very thought provoking.

The Eagle is the movie that has been made from this story.  We are anxious to see how Iif) the movie lives up to the book.  In a world where there just aren’t enough films that I feel comfortable taking my sons to see, I am delighted to take them to explore a world of character, integrity, and courage.

Is courage always fighting?  Is it possible that sometimes submission takes more strength and courage?  Hmmm.  Can’t wait!

      Belinda,
We will see it on DVD also because the boys decided that they didn’t like going to the theater (and the other boy that I homeschool needs the closed captioning), so they passed at the last minute! We loved the book, too. My youngest found her follow up book about Marcus’ grandchildren and is reading it currently.
